If you’re trying and failing to check your Outlook inbox this morning then you are not the only ones. It appears the popular email service from Microsoft is currently down with thousands of users thought to be affected.
Reports of the outage first started appearing at around 8am with users faced with a message showing a sad face and the words “Something went wrong.”
Independent outage monitor, Downdetector, has registered over 2,000 reports at one time from Outlook fans insisting it’s not working properly.
Most of the issues appear to be centred around the UK and Europe with the US seemingly unaffected by the glitch.
As you’d expect, users have now migrated to Twitter to express their disappointment at the outage.
Speaking on the social network one Outlook user said: “So Outlook is down. Can’t see my calendar or my emails. Back to bed?”
Whilst another added: “Outlook is down and I can’t do any work till I get my verification codes.”
This is a serious problem as it’s left many unable to work with one saying, “Apologies for anyone waiting for an email off me today but outlook isn’t playing. If you need something from me urgently drop me a text or give me a call.”
There’s no word just yet as to what is causing the problem or when it will be fixed although Microsoft has confirmed that its email service is having issues.
In a message on its status page the US firm said, ” Users may be unable to access their email. We’re collecting additional data from the affected infrastructure to aid in our investigation to determine the cause of impact.”
