Michael Jackson showed no signs of slowing down before his death. He had booked in to take part in a history-making residency at London’s O2 Arena, which would have seen him performing months of shows. He was in rehearsals and had been performing a lot before his sudden death gripped the world.
What were Michael Jackson’s last words?
There were conflicting reports at the time of his death as to what Michael Jackson’s final words were.
According to his doctor, Conrad Murray, who was later convicted with involuntary manslaughter for his role in Michael’s death, the singer had two statements near the end of his death.
Conrad had been issuing Michael with various drugs before his death, and his cause of death was named as acute propofol and benzodiazepine intoxication.

Propofol, according to Conrad, was nicknamed ‘milk’ by the singer, and so many reports suggested his final words were pleading for milk.
To be exact, Conrad said the singer asked, as reported by the LA Times: “I’d like to have some milk. Please, please give me some milk so that I can sleep, because I know that this is all that really works for me.”
Propofol is an anaesthetic, nicknamed as such because of its opaque, milky appearance.
According to the statement, Conrad was concerned by this, due to Michael’s busy rehearsal schedule.
In response, Michael said: “Just make me sleep. Doesn’t matter what time I get up…
“I can’t function if I don’t sleep. They’ll have to cancel it.
“And I don’t want them to cancel it, but they will have to cancel it.”
According to the doctor who was the last person to see the singer before he was rushed to hospital, these were his final words.
In 2011, the jury found Conrad guilty and he was sentenced to four years in prison but was released after two years on October 28, 2013, for good behaviour.
During the trial, his licence to practise medicine and administer heavy sedatives was revoked and has remained so to this day.
His former wife, Lisa Marie Presley, opened up on what Michael’s final words were to her, which showed his fragile mental state at the time.
Speaking to Oprah Winfrey the year after Michael’s death, she said: “It was a very long conversation. I was so removed and he could hear it and feel it…
“He was checking to get a read, throw a line out to see if I would bite.
“He wanted to tell me that I was right about a lot of people around him.
“That it had panned out to be exactly what he and I had talked about years ago.
“He asked if I still loved him and I told him I was indifferent. And he didn’t like that word and he cried…
“The final part of the conversation was him telling me that he felt that someone was going to try and kill him to get hold of his catalogue and his estate.
“And I really didn’t know what to do with that… He expressed to me his concern over his life.”
