    STAY NOW

Manchester United stars are trying to persuade Paul Pogba to stay — as Raphael Varane’s £34.2million Old Trafford deal was confirmed.

Marcus Rashford is one of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s big guns urging the French World Cup winner, 28, to sign a new contract with the Red Devils.

    A source said:

Rashford and several others have been doing everything to convince Pogba to stay.
They believe the team would lose a key man if he goes as he’s seen as a genuine world-class talent among the squad.
He’s also a leader in the dressing room — one of the players the younger ones look up to when the team is struggling.

    GOOD MORNING UNITED FANS

Real Madrid have thanked Raphael Varane for ten seasons of “exemplary behaviour” after agreeing to sell the France centre-back to Manchester United.

The clubs last night confirmed a deal has been struck and that the 28-year-old has accepted personal terms.

Wayne Rooney’s Derby County job is on a knife-edge after those leaked pictures over the weekend.

A source said: “How can he lead a group of young men when he cannot appear to control himself in public during a night out? This type of behaviour hurts the club’s reputation.”

HIGH ROON FOR WAYNE'S DERBY FUTURE

EXCLUSIVE: Wayne Rooney’s £4.5million Derby County job was on a knife edge last night over leaked pictures of him passed out in a hotel.

The club is furious after images of the sozzled England legend, 35, and semi-naked girls went viral.

A source said: “It’s 50-50. As manager he must lead by example.”

Wife Coleen, also 35, is standing by him.

Pictures went viral showing the former England star, 35, passed out and surrounded by semi-naked girls in a hotel room.

A source said: “How can he lead a group of young men when he cannot appear to control himself in public during a night out? This type of behaviour hurts the club’s reputation.”

Rooney returned to pre-season training on Monday and was seen putting players through their paces.

    ROONEY PHOTO GIRL 'DUMPED'

EXCLUSIVE: One of the girls who took prank pictures as Wayne Rooney dozed off was "dumped" by her fiance in the wake of the viral snaps, it was claimed last night.

Trainee accountant Elise Melvin, 21, posed next to the England legend, 35, after he fell asleep on a chair inside a budget hotel room.

Pals Brooke Morgan and model Tayler Ryan, both 21, also took pictures with the retired Manchester United captain on Sunday morning.

But friends said Elise's husband-to-be, Stuart Rodger, 26, was so upset he called off their engagement hours later.

One said: "Stuart ended it because it was all over the internet. It's not nice."

The mechanical engineer declined to comment at the couple's home in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria.

UTD STARS URGE POGBA TO STAY

Pogba has so far refused a new deal — meaning United would cash in for the right fee.

Paris Saint-Germain lead the chase  but would only fork out around half of the £89m United paid for him five years ago.

A source said: “Rashford and several others have been doing everything to convince Pogba to stay.

"They believe the team would lose a key man if he goes as he’s seen as a genuine world-class talent among the squad.

“He’s also a leader in the dressing room — one of the players the younger ones look up to when the team is struggling.”

    TELLES 'OUT UNTIL SEPTEMBER'

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed Alex Telles is likely to be out until September.

The Premier League side was hoping the defender would only miss 'a few weeks' but it now appears he'll be out for some time.

Giving an update on Telles' injury to United's official website, Solskjaer said: "Unfortunately, it's worse news on Alex Telles than we hoped for.

"His ankle injury is a little bit more severe than we hoped and he’ll be out for a little spell at least, the whole of August I would think."

Although Telles, 28, made just nine Premier League appearances last term, he was set to play a key role at the beginning of the new season.

First-choice left-back Luke Shaw is yet to start pre-season due to his involvement in England's Euro 2020 campaign.

    REAL THANK 'EXEMPLARY' VARANE

Real Madrid have thanked Raphael Varane for ten seasons of "exemplary behaviour" after agreeing to sell the France centre-back to Manchester United.

Both clubs have tonight confirmed a deal has been struck and that the 28-year-old has accepted personal terms.

The Spanish giants said in a statement: "Real Madrid C. F. and Manchester United FC have agreed to the transfer of player Raphael Varane.

"Our club thanks him for his professionalism and exemplary behaviour during the ten seasons in which he has defended our shirt, with which he has won 18 titles: four Champions Leagues, four Club World Cups, three European Super Cups, three Leagues, one King's Cup and three Spanish Super Cups.

"Real Madrid wants to show all its affection to Raphael Varane and his family and wishes him good luck in this new stage of his professional career."

    POGBA COULD DELAY UTD DECISION

Paul Pogba may delay making a decision on his Manchester United future until 2022, KEALAN HUGHES reports.

The midfielder, 28, has been linked with a move away with Paris Saint-Germain one club said to be interested.

The Frenchman is said to be excited by the moves for Jadon Sancho, 21, and Raphel Varane, 28, with the latter edging closer to an Old Trafford switch after United and Real Madrid agreed a fee.

As such, a transfer to PSG may now seem less desirable for Pogba.

    UTD WAGE BILL SOARS

Manchester United are spending more than £300MILLION a year on player wages after signing Jadon Sancho, according to reports.

And that's BEFORE accounting for Raphael Varane's monster salary ahead of his £34.2m transfer from Real Madrid.

Now it is believed the Premier League side will need to sell one of their star players if they are to complete a deal for defender Kieran Trippier.

According to the Daily Telegraph, United are willing to commit to a net spent of £100m this summer due to their financial situation.

The Red Devils have already signed Sancho for £73m and have announced an agreement with Real Madrid for defender Varane on Tuesday.

United will go over their reported budget when Varane's move is finalised and that would make signing Atletico Madrid star Trippier very difficult.

    UTD'S VARANE STATEMENT

Raphael Varane's move from Real Madrid is all but complete – and that's according to Manchester United themselves.

Here's the statement the Red Devils released tonight: "Manchester United is delighted to announce the club has reached agreement with Real Madrid for the transfer of French international defender and World Cup winner, Raphaël Varane, subject to a medical and to player terms being finalised.”

REAL 'AGREE VARANE SALE TO UTD'

Manchester United have edged closer to signing Raphael Varane after confirming Real Madrid have AGREED a transfer fee.

The France centre-back, 28, had one year left on his deal at Real Madrid but had reportedly rejected a host of extension offers and agreed personal terms at United.

And now Man Utd have confirmed they have struck a deal with Los Blancos – thought to be £34.2million.

Varane now needs only to confirm personal terms and complete his medical.

A United statement revealed: "Manchester United is delighted to announce the club has reached agreement with Real Madrid for the transfer of French international defender and World Cup winner, Raphael Varane, subject to a medical and to player terms being finalised."

The LaLiga giants added: "Real Madrid CF and Manchester United FC have agreed to transfer the player Raphael Varane.

"Our club thanks you for your professionalism and exemplary behaviour during the ten seasons in which you have defended our shirt, with which you have won 18 titles.

"Real Madrid wants to show all its affection to Raphaël Varane and his family and wishes him good luck in this new stage of his professional career."

    DEAL AGREED

Manchester United's signing of Raphael Varane is all but confirmed it seems.

Sky Sports are reporting that Manchester United and Real Madrid have agreed a deal in principle for the 28-year-old French World Cup winner.

The fee is believed to be worth an initial £34.2million, with a further £8.5m in add-ons – taking the total transfer fee to £42.7m.

The centre-back becomes the Red Devils' second statement signing of the summer following Jadon Sancho's £73million move from Borussia Dortmund.

    DEAL FOR DALOT

Diogo Dalot is set to return to AC Milan from Old Trafford, the club he spent last season on loan at.

The 22-year-old is not in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's plans, with United also working on a deal for Kieran Trippier.

The Portugese full-back joined United in a £19million deal two years ago but has played just 20 games in the Premier League for United, with rumours swirling around a potential exit.

Dalot played 21 times in Serie A for runners-up AC Milan last season and was also a mainstay in the Rossoneri's Europa League squad until they were knocked out in the last-16 by Manchester United.

    JULES OFF THE CARDS

There’s been a development in the transfer of defender Jules Kounde to Chelsea, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano.

It was earlier reported that Chelsea had agreed personal terms with the 22-year-old who had previously been a target for Manchester United.

The Blues have agreed a contract with the Frenchman that runs until 2026 and are now in advanced talks with Sevilla regarding a transfer fee.

And Romano is now reporting that Chelsea’s Kurt Zouma could be involved in a player-plus-cash deal, with a transfer reportedly on the cards within “hours or days.”

Red Devils fans won't bee too bothered though, with the signing of Raphael Varane also set to go through in the near future.

    RECORD SIGNINGS

With Raphael Varane edging ever closer to a move to Old Trafford, let's see where he would rank in the leaderboard of the Red Devils' most expensive signings, should the deal go through.

The fee is reported to be around the £40million mark, making him United's second most expensive defender of all time after the £80million paid for Harry Maguire two years ago.

It would also make him the tenth most expensive signing in Manchester United's history.

    WINNING MENTALITY

Manchester United's Bruno Fernandes has vowed to try and win trophies with or without transfers in an interview with PA News Agency.

He said: "Obviously I think as always we have a chance to win whatever we want, or wherever we try to win because I think last season unluckily for us we don’t get to win any trophies.

"We got to the final of the Europa League but unluckily we didn't win.

"But, still, with the transfers or without the transfers, Manchester United will always be a tough opponent, we will try to win every competition we are included in."

The arrival of Jadon Sancho and imminent signature of Raphael Varane are sure to help though!

    RASHFORD DILEMMA

Marcus Rahsford may be out of action until October, according to reports.

The Manchester Evening News are reporting that the 23-year-old is set to go under the knife to correct a recurring shoulder issue.

A decision is yet to be confirmed but it is thought that Rashford is keen for the surgery to take place, even though it would mean missing up to ten Premier League games and the first three games of the Champions League, as well as England internationals in September and October.

    ABSENT ALEX

Manchester United left back Alex Telles is expected to miss the opening weeks of the new season after picking up an ankle injury.

The 28-year-old who joined from Porto last year injured himself last week at the Red Devils training camp in Surrey, forcing him to miss United's 4-2 friendly defeat to QPR.

And now Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed the injury to Telles is worse than first feared, telling Manchester United's website:

"Unfortunately, it’s worse news on Alex Telles than we hoped for, his ankle injury is a little bit more severe than we hoped and he’ll be out for a little spell at least, the whole of August I would think."
