Man Utd fans urge club to hijack West Ham’s Gianluca Scamacca transfer as Cristiano Ronaldo nears Atletico Madrid move' | The Sun

MANCHESTER UNITED fans have urged the club to hijack West Ham’s move for Gianluca Scamacca.

That’s because many see the Sassuolo star as the ideal replacement for reported Atletico Madrid target Cristiano Ronaldo.

Scamacca, 23, is rated as one of Europe’s top new attacking stars after netting 41 league goals in the last three years.

The seven-time Italy international attracted interest from Paris Saint-Germain before they opted for Reims’ Hugo Ekitike.

And West Ham are now thought to be in pole position after launching a £34million bid.

However, David Moyes is also keen on snapping up Armando Broja from Chelsea.

That’s led to raucous calls from United supporters for Erik ten Hag to hijack the Hammers’ Scamacca deal.

Star man Ronaldo has made no secret of his desire to quit Old Trafford this summer.

And after being spotted training by himself in Lisbon, the Portuguese veteran is now reportedly close to joining Atletico Madrid.

Ronaldo netted 24 goals upon his United return last season, but Red Devils fans reckon Scamacca is capable of stepping in.

One declared on Twitter: “Hello Man Utd, hijack the Scamacca deal.”

Another wrote: “The pathway to Scamacca is clear. Man Utd GET ON IT.”

One noted: “Man Utd should be all over Scamacca right now if we really want a striker. Get it done.”

Another added: “Dear Man Utd my dear club, go get Gianluca Scamacca. He is a good deal and buy.”

United are also reportedly keeping tabs on Brentford’s Ivan Toney, having pinched Christian Eriksen on a free transfer from the west London outfit.
