I'm falling for my friend but I know he doesn't feel the same way

DEAR DEIDRE: I AM falling for a guy I know sees me as just a friend but I can feel myself getting in deeper and deeper.

I am a separated mum with three young children and an awful history with men. I am 26.

This guy and I met in the park, got chatting and have become each other’s best mate. He is 35.

We tell one another any and everything. I told him about being abused as a child which I never even told my children’s father.

When he’s drunk he tells me he is in love with me. We have even shared a couple of drunken kisses. When he’s sober, we say we are just good friends.

I know he doesn’t feel the same way I do but my emotions are overruling logic.

DEIDRE SAYS: You are sliding down a familiar path. A man with an alcohol issue is not what you need.

Take a step back because the more you invest in this friendship, the worse is going to be the hurt when you’re let down. And just kissing risks transmitting the virus, I’m afraid.

My e-leaflet Abused As A Child? will help you understand how your past has contributed towards your difficult history with men and how to get support.
