I'm a friend with benefits for the man I love but I want him to commit

DEAR DEIDRE:  I AM a shoulder to cry on, and friend with benefits, for a man I love – but he won’t commit.

We met two years ago, he’s 35 and I am 34.

We were close friends for six months, when he was struggling with his marriage breakdown.

He asked me to be his girlfriend and I knew he was everything I’d ever wanted.

My girls adored him and I got on well with his two kids.
Then he suddenly ended it after a year.

I think he’s scared I will hurt him, as his ex did. But we’ve carried on seeing each other every couple of weeks and the sex is so amazing it actually feels like making love.

His ex still plays mind games and I go running to be his support whenever he clicks his fingers.

I am completely besotted with him.

How can I convince I convince him I am different from his ex?

DEIDRE SAYS: While he can have sex with you, and comfort from you, whenever he feels the need, where is his motivation to change?

Tell him he has to show you how much he values you – or you’ll move on.

Stop the sex until he agrees you are in a relation-ship together.

My e-leaflet When Your Man Won’t Commit will help.
