Gemma Atkinson tested positive for Covid-19 antibodies but thought she had flu

Gemma Atkinson has revealed she tested positive for coronavirus antibodies in March.

Speaking on Steph’s Packed Lunch on Channel 4 today, the Strictly star revealed she had a test in March.

She told how she exhibited coronavirus symptoms like loss of taste and smell, she was convinced it was "just a bit of flu" until she had the test.

Gemma said: “I had the antibodies test back in March. Six of us went to the theatre on a Sunday, all became ill on the Wednesday and we all got different symptoms.

“The only thing we had in common was we all lost our sense of smell and taste. My stepdad, Peter, was really poorly, he was in bed for two weeks. "

"We had the antibodies test then and it came back that we had the antibodies… I don’t know how long you have them for. We did it because until we lost our taste and smell, I thought it was just a bit of flu.”

Gemma also told Steph McGovern about the strict testing her partner Gorka Márquez is having while preparing for the new series of Strictly Come Dancing.

Gemma said: “They’re doing tests all the time. They’re doing the bubbling and then he gets two weeks off but again he has to isolate. Then they’re doing more tests before they go back.”

Gemma and Gorka met during 2017's Strictly and hit it off, and now share one-year-old daughter Mia.

Gemma was recently targeted by mum-shaming trolls who attacked her after sharing a cute video of herself working out as Mia watched.

When one told her to "take a leaf out of Stacey Solomon's book", it was Stacey herself who jumped to her defence.

Earlier this month Gemma was cruelly mum-shamed by trolls online.

The Loose Women panelist stepped in and took on one of the trolls, as she rushed to defend Gemma

The 35-year-old Emmerdale and Hollyoaks actress posted a clip of herself working out in her home gym, with baby Mia, one, looking on.

Gemma's sweet video, which saw her enjoy a vigorous workout on the cross-trainer, was praised by many, but some other social networkers said it was tantamount to poor parenting and she was cruelly slammed by trolls.

Gemma was rudely told to "take a leaf out of Stacey's book" in the parenting stakes and wrongly said that Mia was the "last thing" on the former glamour model's mind.

Steph’s Packed Lunch airs weekdays at 12.30pm on Channel 4.
