Food recalls are issued when products are found to pose a risk to the health of consumers. Tesco, Lidl and ASK Italian have shared items that should be returned by consumers.

ASK Italian

ASK Italian Christmas Crackers

The restaurant chain has recalled crackers which could be picked up in branches or when ordering takeaway.

This is because they include chocolates with ingredients not mentioned on the label.

Some chocolates could contain peanuts, soya, barley, wheat, almonds or oats not mentioned on the label.

The Food Standards Agency website stated: “This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to almonds (nuts), peanuts and/or soya, and/or an allergy or intolerance to barley (gluten), eggs, oats (gluten) and wheat (gluten).”

This was because the product was mis-packed with the incorrect chocolates.

The affected batches have the best before date of September 2021.

Customers who are affected by the warning can return the crackers to the restaurant for a full refund.

Tesco Finest Festive Belgian Dark Chocolate Brazil Nuts

The retailer has recalled the festive treat as it contains sulphur dioxide not mentioned on the label.

This would cause a potential health risk for anyone with a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide and/or sulphites.

The packs being recalled are 225 grams with the batch code L0075004.

The food products have the best before date of End May 2021 and no other packs are thought to be affected.

Those who have bought the items can get a refund from stores or by calling Tesco’s Customer Helpline on 0800 505 555.

Lidl GB

A selection of chicken products have been recalled due to the possible presence of salmonella.

Salmonella can cause symptoms such as fever, sickness and abdominal cramps.

Red Hen Breaded Chicken Nuggets

The pack size 450 grams and best before date of end: February 2022 should be returned by consumers.

Red Hen Southern Fried Chicken Pops

Affected packs are 210 grams with the best before date of February 5, 2022.

Anyone who has bought the products can return them to stores for a full refund.
