Websites are scrambling to restore their websites after a huge data connection failure which has left a number of websites suddenly offline. Fashion and lifestyle websites Etsy and Depop are among a number of high profile websites which have done down, including news outlets, Government websites and ecommerce sites.
Other websites which have gone down include retail giant Amazon, news websites the Guardian and the Independent, eBay and the HMRC website.
Users of sites have been hit by error messages when trying to gain access to the websites.
Attempts to access The New York Times and the Financial Time’s websites have been met with a white screen and a “Error 503 service unavailable” statement.
The message indicates that the server cannot handle requests at present.
When will Etsy and Depop be back up?
Etsy and Depop have not yet updated their social media accounts to inform users of the site when services will be able to resume.
