An age gap couple received waves of backlash after posting throwback photos taken 20 years ago.

Cheryl McGregor, 61, and Quran McCain, 24, were married in September.

And despite having a 37-year age gap, the two of them have been sharing their sweet moments on TikTok.

But they received a lot of hate comments from their viewers, with some calling Quran being a necrophiliac and "marrying a fossil".

They ignored the trolls and announced that they are ready to start a new chapter in their life and are planning to have a baby together.

In a more recent post, grandmother Cheryl shared a throwback photo of the two of them and said: "We are happy and we are not asking for your approval."

She said: "My husband and I are turning 25 and 62 – this is us 20 years ago."

Cheryl posted a selfie of the two of them beaming with bright smiles when they had a walk in a park.

Then she shares the throwback photos, one of which showing her husband Quran as a four-year-old.

He is being held in his parent's arms in the cute childhood picture.

Meanwhile, Cheryl's other image shows herself as a 41-year-old.

"This feels illegal," one wrote and a second commented: "You all were asking for hate with this one."

A third expressed: "This has to be for views! No way they are actually together."

This is not the first time the pair have received hate comments on TikTok – and they usually turn away from them and ignore it.

Going forward with their life plan, the couple decided to try surrogacy or adoption.

Quran added: "We prefer surrogacy however we have seen a lot of people embroiled in legal complications far after the child is born.

"We are looking for a nice surrogate who is willing to sign a contract to have nothing to do with the child after it's born."
