Choosing a baby name can be a mean feat, especially as there are never a lack of monikers to choose from.
And, just to make things harder, there has been a re-emergence of Victorian baby names as of late that have become increasingly popular options for newborns, as well as names based on feminist heroes, such as Emmeline and Amelia.
Suffice to say, when your baby is born you’re either settled on a name already or you’re sifting through thousands of highly sought-after monikers to give to your little bundle of joy.
In a bid to either help or hinder you, here’s a look at some of the most popular baby names 2020 has seen so far, as parenting website Nameberry.com reveals their top trends.
Of the most popular on the list, Nameberry says: "For 2020, we see more unique baby names for boys and girls rising to the top of the list, along with classic names and vintage names back in style."

Topping the list for the girls is Luna, which is the name of the Roman mood goddess, and also the name of Chrissy Teigen and John Legend’s baby girl, so the celebrity influence could be behind the surge in popularity.
As well, Aurora is a popular girls name topping the list which means dawn in Latin. Aurora was the Roman goddess of the morning, and the name has occasionally been used since the Renaissance.
Another girls name which stands proud in the list of the most popular is Charlotte. The name, which is of French origin meaning ‘free man,’ or ‘petite,’ dates back to the 14th century, but has been a popular choice of name for many years.
Prince William and Kate Middleton’s opting for the name for their daughter Charlotte could be behind the moniker’s new-found popularity.
For the boys, the name Asher is one of the top names, which is a name meaning happy in Hebrew. With a Biblical background, the name also appears in the Old Testament, in the Book of Genesis, as Asher is the eighth son of Jacob, and the second son of Zilpa.

Other popular names for the boys are Atticus, an old Roman nickname meaning ‘man of Attica.’ It’s a place name which dates back to Antiquity, the region in Greece which surrounds Athens.
Actress Jennifer Love Hewitt named her son Atticus, and the name was also revealed as the most popular baby name for boys in 2017, following Nameberry.com releasing the top monikers.
Arlo, Leo and Levi are brand new additions to the boys list, with Archie falling out of the top 10 despite it being the name chosen by Meghan Markle and Prince Harry last year.
