Aldi reveals ‘secret hour’ where savvy shoppers can save up to 50% on food

Aldi has revealed when is the best time for shoppers to get epic discounts on food in store.

The budget supermarket is known for it's Special Buys and array of affordable items – especially at this time of year – and now customers can save even more on food items.

Buying food with yellow discount stickers is one of the easiest ways to save money on the weekly food shop.

This is because the items are still in their prime but the supermarkets can’t sell it at full price anymore.

However, it's not always easy to know when these yellow stickers will be making an appearance.

In many supermarkets, the best deals come at the end of the day when most of the stock is gone and the supermarket needs to clear the leftover products before their sell-by dates.

However, a spokesperson for Aldi recently revealed that the discounts come in at 7am.

"All items are reduced to 50% of the recommend sales price before stores open on their best before or use by dates," they said.

However, it's worth noting that this doesn’t happen in every store across the UK, so it’s best to contact your local branch to confirm the timings for their own secret shopping hour.

The news comes after Aldi unveiled a rather emotional Christmas advert for 2020 featuring Kevin the Carrot.

The festive clip, featuring the nation’s most-loved carrot, offers audiences a welcome escape from the coronavirus pandemic.

It also finally answers the burning question asked in the teaser which was released earlier in the week – where is Kevin?

Luckily, audiences can breathe a sigh of relief – because Kevin has been saved.

Last we saw of him he had been perilously left adrift with a flaming parachute.

The ad gives viewers an insight into his adventure as he fights to get back to his beloved family for Christmas.
