PLAYER RATINGS

    Callum Hudson-Odoi – 8

A few good moves from Hudson-Odoi as he looked to make things happen.

He started to come alive even more in the second half and got a lot braver with his effective creativity.

    Timo Werner – 6

Another reasonably quiet time in the first half for Werner who didn’t really offer much from out wide and will always be more comfortable playing centrally.

    Tammy Abraham – 6

Poor display from Abraham in the first half as he struggled to be a threat.

He livened up in the second half and won a penalty for Chelsea’s third goal.

Embarrassed himself by trying to take duties away from Jorginho for the second penalty.

    Subs

    Christian Pulisic (83 mins) – N/A

    Mateo Kovacic (83 mins) – N/A

    PLAYER RATINGS

    N’Golo Kante – 7

A typically energetic performance from Kante who was all over the park once again, breaking up play and even offering a threat going forward.

    Jorginho – 8

A much better game from the Italian international and he managed to pick out some good passes, including a great over the top ball for Tammy Abraham who got unlucky.

He also converted two second half penalties to get himself on the score sheet.

    Kai Havertz – 9

Chelsea’s biggest creative spark, always looking to advance with the ball and he worked tirelessly tracking back as well.

A fantastic game for the German international.

    PLAYER RATINGS

Here’s how SunSport rated and slated the Chelsea players.

    Edouard Mendy – 9

He was not troubled at all by Crystal Palace in the first half.

He was a bit busier in the second half and made a couple of good saves and he fore fronted Chelsea’s first Premier League clean sheet of the season.

    Cesar Azpilicueta – 6

The captain did the basics fine, but didn’t bring enough in the attacking third. Got a bit better in the second half and effected things more.

Showed leadership as he stopped Tammy Abraham from snatching spot-kick duties away from designated penalty taker Jorginho for the fourth goal.

    Thiago Silva – 7

He did his job well and was naturally very cool and calm on the ball, still looks to be settling in at Stamford Bridge.

    Kurt Zouma – 8

Game after game Kurt Zouma is putting in consistently good performances in a Chelsea shirt and today was no different, another solid showing from him.

He even got on the score sheet with a lovely header in the second half.

    Ben Chilwell – 9

An assured showing from the new left back, always comfortable on the ball and tried to maintain a threat going forward.

    LAMPS ON PEN FRACAS

Frank Lampard told BT Sport after the game: “It’s been dealt with. No problems, no problems it’s been dealt with.

“I want leaders and I’ll allow mine a bit of conflict.

“If Tammy wanted to take it because he wants a goal or whatever it was, the he’s been put in his place a little bit.

“I appreciate his eagerness because his performance deserved a goal, but those are the rules.

“You don’t jump ahead on the list at any moment unless somebody’s got a hat-trick and we’re so comfortable that I decide. So it’s dealt with.”

    WELL IN

Chelsea players ratings: Mendy and Chilwell proved shrewd purchases but Werner still waits for first PL goal.

The Blues were rampant at Stamford Bridge as Frank Lamaprd's men cruised to a 4-0 victory over Crystal Palace.

Chilwell fired them ahead before assisting Kurt Zouma who put a brilliant header in the back of the net. This was then followed up by 2 Jorginho penalties to wrap up the 3 points.

  • Alex Terrell

    SPOT OF BOTHER

Chelsea scored two penalties in the second half at Stamford Bridge as they brushed Crystal Palace aside 4-0.

But Tammy Abraham had the ball ripped from his grasp during a penalty incident as he was told Jorginho had to take the penalty buy captain Cesar Azpilicueta.

Abraham fumed after the incident and was clearly not happy in the minutes after the goal went in.

The 19-year-old winger is back in favour but is yet to start a Premier League match this season.

Boss Lampard said: “With all those three players I will always take those things into consideration.

“I have not got an answer on any of those three.

“I have a good relationship with them all and speak honestly with them.

“That is one we will broach player by player over the next few days.”

    GOOD MORNING, BLUES FANS

Frank Lampard has vowed to hold talks with Callum Hudson-Odoi over a loan move if Bayern Munich step up their interest.

Chelsea take on Crystal Palace in today’s early kick off.

And it remains to be seen if Hudson-Odoi is involved following interest from Bayern.

Admitting to do the same with Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Fikayo Tomori, Lampard said: “With all those three players I will always take those things into consideration.

“I have not got an answer on any of those three.

“I have a good relationship with them all and speak honestly with them.

“That is one we will broach player by player over the next few days.”

Meanwhile, Marcos Alonso is looking for a quick getaway from Chelsea before Monday’s transfer deadline.

The left back’s bust up with boss Lampard and the signing of Ben Chilwell has convinced the Spaniard his future lies elsewhere.

Alonso fancies a move abroad with Italy his preferred destination and a possible reunion with former Chelsea head coach Antonio Conte.

Finally, AC Milan have opened talks with Chelsea over a deal for Antonio Rudiger.

Calciomercato claim the German centre-back could be heading to Serie A before deadline day.

Spurs and Paris Saint-Germain are also known to be interested in Rudiger, who is out of Lampard's plans.

    WRIGHT MOVE

Ian Wright believes Chelsea need MORE signings to improve their defence.

The Blues have already added Thiago Silva, Ben Chilwell and Edouard Mendy to their ranks this summer.

But Wright told Premier League Productions: “I think the goalkeeper is going to make a big difference, but for me just putting Thiago Silva in their back line as an experienced player isn't enough.

“It's not enough for me, there's a Palace team that can really exploit that team.”

    UNSETTLED SIDE

Frank Lampard says new boys Timo Werner and Kai Havertz have had shaky starts due to being played out of position because of injuries.

Lampard explained: “Timo and Kai don’t necessarily have favoured positions themselves but I have a clear idea of where I want them to play.

“At the moment, injuries have not made it that possible and sometimes you have to be adaptable in those difficult times.”

    FROM SUNSPORT’S MARTIN LIPTON

Prem fans were left in the partial dark after League bosses announced the first wave of TV picks for the next three weekends.

A total of 15 games, five each weekend from the next of the looming international break, were announced for screening by Sky Sports and BT Sport.

Matches included Manchester City’s home clash with Arsenal, now a tea-time battle on Saturday October 17 and Gareth Bale’s potential second debut for Spurs against West Ham the following afternoon.

A week later, Chelsea will travel to Old Trafford for a Saturday 5.40pm kick-off, while Arsenal’s trip to Manchester United the following weekend is now on Sunday November 1.

But with no sign of fans being allowed back in grounds this month, the provisional list is likely to change even more dramatically.
