Victoria Beckham ‘really upset’ over Rio Ferdinands comments on diet

Victoria Beckham, 48, was reportedly hurt after former professional footballer Rio Ferdinand, 44, claimed he had “never seen her eat”.

Sources claim that his words have brought up past “trauma” for the Spice Girls star, who has been “haunted” by the scrutiny she has faced for her diet over the years.

The former centre-back, who used to play football with her husband David Beckham during their time together at Manchester United, has since addressed his comments.

However, reports say the mother-of-four is still feeling “really upset” following Rio’s appearance on the Australian radio show Kyle And Jackie O.

A source claimed: “Vic was really upset when she saw Rio’s comments – she won’t tolerate it.

“She’s shocked that a former teammate of David – who’s also father to a young girl and has another daughter on the way – thinks it’s OK to discuss a woman’s diet in public,” they told Heat.

“Rio’s a pro and could have batted the topic away, but he opened his mouth.

“For years, Vic’s had to put up with intense scrutiny over what she eats and how she stays so slim, and the impact of that has been traumatic.

“This is something that dates right back to the Spice Girls, and it’s haunted her for years. She hoped she was past all this,” they added.

Asked about Victoria’s eating habits on the radio show, Rio admitted at the time: “I’ve never seen her eat anything.

“I don’t remember anything that sticks out of my memory, to be honest.”

Rio then quickly clarified Victoria was ‘nice’ during their meetings, as Jackie’s co-host joked: “You can’t be asking a player about another soccer player’s wife.”

When his comments made headlines, Rio also took to Twitter to set the record straight, telling his 11.6 million followers: “Context pls people…

“I said ‘I’ve never seen her eat anything’ as I’ve not sat with Victoria and eaten!” (sic) has contacted Victoria and Rio’s representatives for comment.
