Peter Hunziker, who stars as a deckhand on Bravo’s Below Deck Mediterranean, has been fired for racially insensitive social media posts. The network announced the news today on Instagram stating, “Peter Hunziker of Below Deck Mediterranean has been terminated for his racist post. Bravo and 51 Minds are editing the show to minimize his appearance for subsequent episodes.”
Hunziker was featured in season five of Below Deck Med, which premiered on June 1, according to Us Weekly. However, the U.S. Coast Guard hasn’t had an easy start as a deckhand on the show. People reported that in early episodes Captain Sandy Yawn scolded him after he inappropriately called his boss “sweetie” or “sweetheart.” His termination comes on the heels of several other Bravolebrities getting the axe last week for racially insensitive actions.
Bravo and MTV have recently fired multiple stars for racially charged comments
Bravo also cut ties with Stassi Schroeder, Kristen Doute, Max Boyens and Brett Caprioni from Vanderpump Rules. Schroeder and Doute were fired for calling the police on former castmate Faith Stowers, for a crime she didn’t commit. Boyens and Caprioni were forced to make an exit after past racist tweets resurfaced. A representative for Schroeder and Doute told People they want to move past everything.
“Stassi and Kristen acknowledged what they did was wrong, have apologized and been punished,” said their rep, Steve Honig. “Without casting aside their actions or the impact of those actions, they want to move forward as part of the solution in ways that are productive, meaningful and sincere. Both of them recognize actions speak louder than words and that is what will guide them as they move forward.”
MTV recently announced they would be letting go of multiple cast members on their shows for racially charged comments, according to Us Weekly. Dee Nyugen was cut from The Challenge, Taylor Selfridge was fired from Teen Mom OG, and Alex Kompothecras was dismissed from Siesta Key.
