Strictly: Giovanni calls Ranvir Singh ‘baby’ during dance
Ranvir Singh, 43, has admitted she had no idea about whether her Strictly Come Dancing performances went well until she received feedback from the judges. The Good Morning Britain presenter shared her confusion, which resulted in her looking “a bit shocked” when she was awarded top marks by the panel, was as a result of her dance partner Giovanni Pernice’s tendency to be a perfectionist.
Ranvir divulged: “I’m not massively competitive and I think that was probably a slight problem, and to my partner and all the pro dancers, this is their life.
“This is their absolute, every breath is dancing.”
“So for them being on Strictly and winning is so important.
“And it took me quite a while to realise really that it’s not just – you’re not the only person in this.”

Ranvir went on to explain that Giovanni would usually inform her that their performances were “not good enough” during their live routines.
The star continued: “It’s almost more important to the pro, but because I have a life outside of dancing, which I can go back to and be successful in, whereas for them, the dancing is everything.
“I wasn’t massively competitive and then I realised that actually he is, Giovanni is extremely like a perfectionist.
“I wouldn’t know until the very moment we’d finished our live dance, whether I’d done a good job or not.
“Because right up until the last second he would be like, that’s not good enough. That’s not good enough.”
Ranvir was then pleasantly surprised when she discovered her performance had “gone okay” according to the judges’ feedback.
She added: “So I would go on having no idea if what I was doing was a four or a 10, I’d have no idea whatsoever.
“Which is why I was always a bit shocked on air, I was a bit like, ‘Oh, it’s gone okay’.

“Until of course I did the jive and then I realised, you know, it was total c**p,” she admitted while chatting on Calling Peston – The ITV News Politics Podcast.
Ranvir and Giovanni were eliminated from the competition after they lost out to Jamie Laing and Karen Hauer in a dance-off in the semi-final of the 2020 series.
The pair performed their Jive to Christina Aguilera’s Candyman, which left them with lower scores than their ballroom routine achieved.
The Latin routine earned them a combined score of 18.
Meanwhile, Giovanni recently poked fun at his pal Ranvir, as he likened her facial expression on GMB to how she looked while learning their Jive on the BBC show last year.
The dancer zoomed into his ex dance partner’s face on Instagram and wrote: “Same face when you were learning the Jive,” followed by a crying with laughter emoji.
But insisting the energetic dance wasn’t a good memory of hers, she replied: “What Jive? It never happened.”
Despite fans calling for Ranvir and Giovanni to get together due to the chemistry they showcased during their routines, they both laughed off any chance of a romance between them.
The presenter told The Mirror: “We both find the idea that we might get hit by the curse very funny – he is a 30-year-old man!”
