Ranvir Singh battles ‘strange comedown’ after Strictly with Giovanni Pernice ‘Felt so low’

Strictly: Giovanni Pernice says he’s ‘still in touch’ with Ranvir

Ranvir Singh, 43, has admitted she was left feeling “low” after her appearance on Strictly Come Dancing last year, alongside professional dancer Giovanni Pernice, 30. The Good Morning Britain host shared that she had messaged fellow contestants including Clara Amfo and Max George to see if they had experienced similar emotions following their departures from the show.

Ranvir opened up about her experience while speaking on GMB today with her colleagues Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid.

She said: “The second week out I felt so low and then I was messaging Clara [Amfo] and Max [George] and they were going, ‘Yeah, it happens to everybody’.

“Everybody gets this comedown – it’s so strange.”

The star and her professional dance partner Giovanni had missed out on a place in the final of the contest, after they lost out to Jamie Laing and Karen Hauer in a dance off in the semi-final.

Ranvir previously said she feels more confident in herself after losing weight throughout the contest.

Speaking to the Daily Star at the time, Ranvir said: “My body has definitely changed. It’s hard work doing Strictly and my body has responded to that.

“I feel much trimmer and better in myself. It has been incredible.

“The dress I am wearing this weekend is one that was made for one of the professionals. That’s amazing for me.

“They push their bodies through. Even if they haven’t eaten or they have a lack of sleep, they push themselves. It is remarkable,” she added.

Meanwhile, Ranvir recently opened up on her relationship with Giovanni now the show is over, as she told Good Morning Britain viewers that the pair remain friends.

The 43-year-old shared: “I think we will stay friends. Why not? Because we have experienced something quite deep and quite intense actually.

“That’s a very special thing,” she added.

Ranvir also explained how Strictly helped with her self-esteem in her professional life.

Speaking on how she found her confidence on the show by remaining true to herself, Ranvir said: “I think because I was quite open and I didn’t really know how to pretend to be more enthusiastic… if I’m feeling a bit down or vice versa.

“I think honesty won the day in the end, even though it didn’t get me to the final.

“I think what’s lovely is loads and loads of people have found they can relate to my own insecurities.”

However, it does not appear that Ranvir has much time for romance in her life, as she balances her work and personal commitments.

The star said she is too busy looking after her son Tushaan, who she shares with her ex-husband Ranjeet Singh Dehal, and her newly adopted dog Shmizzles to even consider letting a man into her life at the moment.

Ranvir told Red magazine: “Will there ever be any room for another person with my son and I? We have a dog now, too!

“We got him in lockdown; he’s a little cockapoo called Shmizzels.”
