Phillip Schofield has hosted How To Spend It Well at Christmas since 2017. The ITV programme returned for it’s fourth series last week, sparking questions from eagle-eyed viewers.

The show offers viewers an insight into various Christmas gifts from children’s toys, gadgets, to food and how people can make seasonal savings before the big day.

The 58-year-old reacted to a Twitter user today, after they quizzed him on whether the products and their prices would still be valid when the other episodes air.

The person in question wrote: “When was @ITV how to spend it well for Christmas with @Schofe even filmed? Clearly before COVID… So how up to date is all this for Xmas 2020? #xmas2020 #Howtospendit.”

Phillip assured the social media user that the prices on the new series are up to date, as he retweeted the post.

In view of his 4.5 million followers, Phillip replied: “Not ‘clearly’… it was filmed in October but we were all tested and so could form a bubble.

“I can assure you the prices are as up to date as possible.”

The user replied: “The tweet wasn’t aimed at COVID measures… more an enquiry over the timing of filming vs relevance and availability of things! But thanks for the interest.”

Many reacted to the initial tweet, as they thanked Phillip for bringing the show back during the current climate.

“I think you’ve done a good job and glad you’ve brought it back,” another person tweeted.

Another social media user typed: “I love this show.”

While a third person quipped: “Don’t you love it when people just assume?”

How to Spend It Well at Christmas is back for three episodes, with only one having aired so far.

The show sees Phillip, along with his team of experts and members of the public, put a range of festive gifts to the test.

“After a tough year, it’s more important than ever to know how to make your money work for you,” the father-of-two previously said about the new series.

“We’ve tested and reviewed the latest products to help us get the biggest bang for our buck this season… Let’s make this a Christmas to remember.”

Meanwhile, Phillip has blamed his This Morning co-star Holly Willoughby for Ant and Dec helping the contestants through their I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! 2020 Trials.

The presenter spoke on the ITV daytime show and pointed out how the hosts told Jessica Plummer and AJ Pritchard where the stars were located in their recent challenge.

Making reference to Holly’s stint at the helm in 2018, Phillip said: “I think the help sort of crept in when you were there.”

“Oh, you’re blaming me,” Holly laughed as Phillip nodded.

He added: “I think you changed the dynamic because it had always been the two guys who were little but quite tough, and then suddenly in you go, softer heart, helping people.”
