Perez Hilton believes Britney Spears “would be dead” if she wasn’t under her conservatorship.
A recent BBC documentary discussed Britney Spears’ legal arrangement that allows her father, Jamie Spears, full control of her estate following her mental health breakdown.
The huge uproar of the #FreeBritney movement has seen fans from across the globe calling for the conservatorship to be removed, as she is in the legal process of requesting for her father to be removed as her conservator – with Britney due to address the court for the first time on June 23.
Opinions remained divided in the documentary Battle for Britney: Fans, Cash and a Conservatorship, with some arguing that Britney is being managed by others despite being capable of making her own choices, while others believe it is what she needs.
Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton shared his views on the controversial topic, and revealed he thinks that Britney would be dead without the support of her conservatorship in the controversial documentary.
Speaking to journalist and presenter Mobeen Azhar, he said: “If she didn’t have a conservatorship in place, I would be concerned that Britney would be dead, truly.
“There are certain things that I don’t agree with though. For example, Britney recently was petitioning the court to have her father removed as her conservator, that should absolutely be her right.

“Okay, if she’s under this conservatorship because she needs to, why should her dad be the one calling the shots and making money off of it?”
The celebrity blogger opened up about the backlash he faced for being in favour for the conservatorship, adding that many of Britney’s supporters believe he is “on the payroll” after receiving numerous death threats for his opinion.
He said: “They think her dad is paying me and that’s not true. I just said that her father should be her conservator.”
The former Celebrity Big Brother contestant went on to admit that he “feels awful” about his contribution towards her mental breakdown in 2008 from his infamous blog about the singer.
In the late noughties, Perez called her an “unfit parent” and posted a picture of her sitting in a car which he had written “I need drugs!” among others a number of other claims online.
He said: “Yeah it was awful, absolutely, I regret that deeply. And in my mind, I still at that time, was not aware of her mental health struggles.”
When asked if he believed he had contributed to Britney’s breakdown, which is understood to have acted as the catalyst for her to be placed under the control of the conservatorship, Perez said: “Yeah, it’s a possibility and I feel awful.
“I definitely don’t do things like that anymore; I made a change many years ago. And I think, you know, many people will only ever be able to see me and view me and think of me as that person from back in the day.
“I know that if I were to die tomorrow the majority of the world would celebrate, and it’s okay, I am reaping the consequences of my actions.”
