Following her surgery, Shaughna has candidly opened up about her insecurities.

Speaking exclusively to OK! online, she revealed: “I think I’ve always had an insecurity about my legs, that was the one thing that I said to the Love Island therapist – before you go in there, they ask you loads of questions, how you deal with trolls.

“My one thing that I said to them is the only thing that I’m insecure about is my legs.”

However, Shaughna defiantly revealed that trolling over her insecurities does not affect her.

She explained: “Anything that a troll has to say to me I probably think about it already.

“So, to be honest, the trolling comments about my legs don’t necessarily affect me, it’s something that happened a long time before Love Island, I’ve always felt conscious about them, I’ve always had comments about them and I have never really known what was wrong with them because I’d lost weight – I lost just over four stone and my legs hadn’t changed.”

Shaughna was diagnosed with lipoedema after a fan messaged her asking if she was aware of the condition. She then researched the symptoms and Shaughna said she “ticked every box”.

The reality star said she felt relief after her diagnosis and her surgery.

She said: “It’s like a light at the end of the tunnel. Right now it seems I’ve been kicked by David Beckham I’m so bruised but just knowing that the bigger picture’s not far away I’m very excited.”

Shaughna, who recently revealed an ex made a cruel comment about her legs, said: “I was walking on clouds, I can’t even explain it.

“To be told a name and given a checklist for symptoms it was amazing, even though it was’ necessarily good news that you’ve got something it was a weight lifted off my.. my legs!”

Love Island star Shaughna explained she caught the condition at the initial stages as she said: “I’m pretty lucky because there are four to five stages and I’m at stage one to two so I’ve caught it at a pretty early time, whereas if you catch it at stage four there is only so much you can do.

“This isn’t something that surgeons are too sure on because there’s still a lot of research that needs to be done and they think that it’s triggered by your hormones, pregnancy, your period starting but hopefully my surgeon said he’s seen hundreds of women and luckily thier's hasn’t returned.”

Shaughna was speaking on behalf of Mike’s Hard Seltzer, who has launched a dating advice hotline to help Brits stop overthinking their love life. Mike’s Love Advice Hotline will be open to the public via WhatsApp on 25th September from 3-6pm, and Pete Wicks and Shaughna Phillips will be on hand to answer any questions.
