Liam Gallagher pays tribute to Taylor Hawkins by dedicating Live Forever to the late Foo Fighters drummer during charity concert

Liam Gallagher dedicated his final song during a charity performance to Taylor Hawkins following the death of the Foo Fighters drummer aged 50 on Friday.

The former Oasis frontman, 49, played a Teenage Cancer Trust concert at the Royal Albert Hall on Saturday night, singing a career-spanning show of solo hits and Oasis classics.

At the end of the gig, the Gallagher brother sang Live Forever, dedicating it to his friend Hawkins.

A photograph of the rock star, who died during the South American leg of the Foo Fighters’ world tour, was displayed throughout the emotional performance.

Addressing the crowd, Liam said: ‘We dedicate this last song to the one and only Taylor f***ing Hawkins, who sadly passed away.’

He then turned to look at a picture of the 50-year-old sticksman – who was an Oasis superfan – and added: ‘This is for you, brother.’

The drum kit used in the charity gig also had the name ‘Taylor’ written prominently on it.

Liam’s recent single Everything’s Electric was co-written by Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl.

Following the news of Hawkins sudden death, Liam wrote in a tweet: ‘Absolutely devastated to hear the sad news about Taylor Hawkins my thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends RIP brother LG x’

Liam is an ambassador for Teenage Cancer Trust and played the penultimate concert in a week-long series which has also featured Don Broco, Yungblud and Madness. Ed Sheeran will close the run of gigs with a show on Sunday night.

It was reported that Taylor’s heart weighed double that of men his age as an autopsy found he suffered a ‘cardiovascular collapse’ after binging on a cocktail of drugs including heroin, marijuana, and opioids, investigators have said.

Forensic experts are said to have discovered it weighed ‘at least 600 grams’, double the average of 300 to 350 grams, during an examination following his shock death at a luxury hotel in Colombian capital Bogota on Friday.

Investigators have concluded he suffered cardiovascular collapse after binging on a cocktail of drugs, respected Colombian news magazine Semana reported.
