LadBaby has proven he’s not fazed in the slightest to follow Mariah Carey as the face of Walkers’ Christmas advert, pointing out that he’s got more Christmas number ones than her.
The shade of it all!
The star – real name Mark Hoyle – and his wife Roxanne made chart history last year, by racking up a second consecutive Christmas number one, all in aid of the Trussell Trust.
Now the pair are following in Mariah’s footsteps – but they’re taking it all in their stride.
‘It’s amazing isn’t it?’ Mark reflected. ‘Mariah Carey last year, now us. My face is on a [crisp] bag! And it’s helping raise money for the Trussell Trust as well. It’s like, this is perfect.’
The YouTube star insisted he hasn’t had any ‘diva-ish demands’ other than needing a supply of sausage rolls on set, and he’s excited to know what Mariah’s reaction to the ad will be.
‘Hopefully she will [see it]. She surely can’t miss the fact that we’ve had more Christmas number ones than she has in the UK!’ he laughed.
Walkers will also be helping to raise money for the Trussell Trust with a new limited edition sausage roll flavour – because what else?!
While Mariah has had no shortage of success with her hit All I Want For Christmas Is You, and achieved a US number one, Mark and Roxanne have smashed it in the UK charts over the past two years.
In 2018 they managed to beat out musical heavyweights including Ariana Grande to land the Christmas number one with a comic take on We Built This City, trading in ‘rock and roll’ for sausage rolls.
They then followed it up with a parody of I Love Rock N Roll in 2019 with I Love Sausage Rolls, which also got the Christmas number one, beating the likes of Stormzy.
However, the pair are undecided about whether to go for it for a third year.
‘I don’t know,’ Mark explained. ‘We always say every year if we can do a better job than the year before and if there’s a way of making more money, then we’ll try.
‘And – I don’t know. Does the Great British public need it?’ he asked, explaining that it’s still ‘TBC’ as to whether he’ll go ahead with another one.
