Ioan Gruffudd’s wife Alice Evans has claimed she has been ‘gaslit’ by her husband after he ‘deleted her tweet’ about him walking out on her.
The Welsh actor is thought to have left his wife of 13 years, with Evans saying he told her he ‘no longer loves her’.
Actress Evans tweeted: ‘Sad news. My beloved husband/soulmate of 20 years, Ioan Gruffudd, has announced he is to leave his family, starting next week.
‘Me and our young daughters girls are very confused and sad [sic]. We haven’t been given a reason except that he ‘no longer loves me.’ I’m so sorry.’
The tweet was later deleted.
A more recent tweet from Evans, which has also been deleted, said (according to The Sun): ‘Hi there. I didn’t delete the tweet from a few hours ago about him leaving.
‘He did. From my account. And hell yes when I am being gaslit […] then hell yes I will wash my linen in public.’
Evans, 49, also responded to a follower who claimed her original post was a ‘weird thing to be posting to Twitter’.
She said: ‘Why? I have lost my mind.’
Gruffudd, 47, has not publicly commented on the allegations.
The actor, best known for his roles in Titanic and Fantastic Four, married Evans in 2007.
The couple met on the set of the 2000 film 102 Dalmatians, when Evans was engaged to Olivier Picasso, the great-grandson of Pablo Picasso.
Following the actress’s split from Picasso, Evans began dating Gruffudd, and in 2007, they tied the knot in Mexico after Gruffudd was given an ‘ultimatum’.
The actor told the Independent: ‘Alice has been very patient with my procrastinating with my male ways!
‘She did give me somewhat of an ultimatum – a gentle nudge – which was the best thing she could do, really.’
The pair went on to have two daughters together, Ella Betsi, 11, and seven-year-old Elsie Marigold.
