Hayley Williams Performs Cover Of Massive Attack’s ‘Teardrop’

Paramore‘s Hayley Williams covered Massive Attacks‘s “Teardrop” for Jack Antonoff‘s 7th annual Ally Coalition Talent Show on Monday night, December 21. “Teardrop” is from Massive Attack’s 1998 album Mezzanine.

“Water is my eye/ Most faithful mirror/ Fearless on my breath/ Teardrop on the fire/ Of a confession/ Fearless on my breath/ Most faithful mirror,” Williams sang seated in a candle-lit bedroom, wearing a towel around her head and a dressing gown.

The show also featured Lana Del Rey, St. Vincent, The Chicks, Antonoff’s own band, Bleachers, Maggie Rogers, Brittany Howard, Sleater-Kinney, Spoon, Tierra Whack and more.

The virtual event raised money for LGBTQ+ organizations that support homeless LGBTQ+ youth shelters. The show streamed on Antonoff’s Twitch channel on Monday, December 21 at 9 pm ET. According to Antonoff, the show raised around $350,000 for homeless LGBTQ+ youth.

Meanwhile, Williams released her solo debut album Petals for Armor in May but was forced to postpone her supporting tour until 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.
