Actor BJ Hogg has sadly died at the age of 65.

He was best known for playing Ser Addam Marbrand on Game of Thrones, and for appearing on BBC drama The Fall.

BJ was also known for being part of BBC Northern Ireland series Give My Head Peace, with the team behind the show, the Hole In The Wall Gang, issuing a statement.

‘BJ is part of the Give My Head Peace family,’ they said.

‘He was a fine actor, great colleague and a true friend. Our thoughts are with his wife Elish, son Nathan and daughter Abigail at this time.’

BJ had a successful career as an actor, writer and director, touring the world and appearing in the likes of TV series The Secret, Holby City, and The Woman in White, with his last credited role being just this year in The Windermere Children.

His first on-screen role was back in 1984, in TV movie Four Days in July, with the actor going on to enjoy an impressive career that spanned decades.

Tributes have been pouring in on social media, with Coronation Street star Charlie Lawson (Jim McDonald) writing on Twitter: ‘St Peter’s havin a geg tonight!

‘Very sad. We were very fond of each other, nothing to do with acting, the arts, or any of that stuff, we just ……. God love y’ BJ, havin a Black Bush dear heart. XXX.’

This Morning’s Eamonn Holmes added: ‘Sad to hear.’

Hole In The Wall Gang member Tim McGarry went on to say: ‘Everybody associated with #GiveMyHeadPeace is shocked and heartbroken by the sudden passing of our dear friend and colleague BJ Hogg.

‘We’ve lost a member of the family. Thanks for all the laughs BJ.’
