Freddie Flintoff and his wife Rachael secretly welcomed their fourth child over Christmas and on Tuesday the sportsman revealed his son’s name.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Freddie said: ‘Little Preston was born at Christmas – it is the first time I’ve actually spoken about it.’

The 42-year-old former England cricket captain and wife Rachael Wools, 39, have paid tribute to his birthplace, Preston, by naming him after the Lancashire city.

Freddie – who also has kids Holly, 15, Corey, 14, and Rocky, 12 – first announced his wife’s pregnancy in October after Rachael revealed her bump at the Attitude Awards.

The Top Gear presenter has been spending the current coronavirus lockdown with his family at their home in Greater Manchester, and has loved spending more quality time with his newborn son.

He continued: ‘But yeah, we have got another baby and it has been nice spending time with him.’

Freddie is set to join Holly Willoughby and Alex Scott for ‘The Real 2020 Games’, which will see celebrities take part in a number of Olympic-style events.

The Olympics-themed show was due to air at the same time as the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, but it has since been postponed due to the pandemic.

Freddie and Rachael, who’ve been married for almost fifteen years, were pictured looking glamorous together at a red carpet event where it became evident they had some happy news to share.

A source told MailOnline: ‘They’re over the moon to be expecting again. It’s been exciting news for all the family.’

The ex-England cricketer, real name Andrew, who is an ambassador for Jacamo men’s clothing, was convinced him and Rachael wouldn’t have anymore children after the arrival of their youngest son Rocky.

In 2016 he said: ‘We thought about it. I originally wanted five but you have three and that felt like enough. I couldn’t go back to the nappy stage now.’

But three years on, Freddie and Rachael had decided to expand their brood once again.

Last year, Freddie escaped a serious injury after being involved in a 124mph crash during filming a race on Top Gear.

New chapter: Freddie previously admitted to being fearful of ‘going back to the nappy stage’ – while saying he and Rachael have always wanted at least five children

On the same track where Richard Hammond was almost killed Freddie over-shot the runway while driving a three-wheeled cycle car that required him to hurtle along lying on his front and head first.

Thankfully he was given the all clear by medics and was able to carry on with his presenting duties alongside Paddy McGuinness and Chris Harris.

At the time of the incident Freddie said: ‘I’m absolutely fine and have been back filming.

‘I go to great lengths to make sure I do well in Top Gear drag races but, on this occasion, I went a few lengths too far.

‘It will look more ridiculous than dangerous when you see it on TV.’
