Natalie Ann Jamieson hit our screens in March last year when she made her debut as Amy Wyatt, a returning Emmerdale character. The British actress – who has also starred in episodes of Vera and Doctors – revealed she had left her partner stunned ahead of her appearance on the ITV programme.

Natalie is known for her role as Amy Wyatt, who was previously played by Chelsea Halfpenny.

Chelsea had played the role of Amy before the character left for Ireland as part of a harrowing kidnap plot back in 2013.

She didn’t return to Emmerdale but in 2019 her character was reintroduced with Natalie taking the part.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk, Natalie admitted her boyfriend’s grandmother had always said she “looked like” Chelsea ahead of her getting the part.

She explained: “My partner, his Nana, when Chelsea played the role, she used to say all the time, ‘You don’t half look like that girl off Emmerdale.’ We thought it was really funny.”

The actress admitted years later, she stunned her beau after she revealed she had got the Emmerdale gig.

“So when the part came up, I said to him, ‘Do you know what part it is? It’s the one your nan you used to say.’ He was like, ‘Oh my goodness,'” Natalie chimed.

Speaking about playing Amy, the soap star explained her character is “interesting” to viewers.

Natalie said: “This is a character that I would love to play. She is an extremely interesting character.

“Her background is from care, so there’s so much going on with that character and so many things to explore behind the scenes before you start to look at the script.

“There’s so much going on with her and she is an incredible character.”

Although Chelsea didn’t return to the ITV soap, she did tweet a message of support to Natalie at the time ahead of her first appearance on-screen.

The former Amy Wyatt star cheered: “Go on girl! Smash it.”

Natalie replied: “Thank you lovely lass!! I can’t wait to get started. I’m sure I’m going to have a smashing time in the Dales.”

Elsewhere, the Dales actress recently revealed she now wants to be a contestant on the celebrity version of ITV’s quiz show The Chase.

During a break from filming, Natalie has been keeping herself entertained with online quizzes during the nationwide lockdown.

The soap star has since revealed she would welcome taking on a Chaser for the “experience” and wouldn’t turn down the chance to appear.

“Yes. I would love to go on The Chase because I love quizzes,” she remarked.

“The thing is people think because I love quizzes they assume I’m good at them.”

Emmerdale airs on Mondays and Wednesdays on ITV at 7pm.
