DJ Spinderella Says Salt-N-Pepa Reunion Would Require An Apology

DJ Spinderella, whose real name is Deidra Roper, says a reunion of Salt-N-Pepa would require an apology from members Cheryl “Salt” James and Sandra “Pepa” Denton.

In December, Salt-N-Pepa’s James and Denton had hinted about a possible reunion with Spinderella despite the latter’s 2019 lawsuit against the two. However, Roper differs with the viewpoint.

“The relationship is over,” Roper told Billboard‘s Jordyn Rolling in a new interview. “The only way something like that would happen is if we get this business handled and that they offer an apology to me.”

“When you have a legacy, you want to make sure that would outweigh this stuff. So I’m not, you know, I’m not closed off to that, but I will be respected. I will be treated fairly,” she continued. “I will never be in a group that does not want to be with me.

Last month, Lifetime released a Salt-N-Pepa biopic which starred GG Townson as Cheryl “Salt” James, Laila Odom as Sandra “Pepa” Denton, and Monique Jasmine Paul as DJ Spinderella.

Salt-N-Pepa served as the executive producers, while Queen Latifah served as a producer. Mario Van Peebles directed the film.

Roper claimed she was excluded from participating behind-the-scenes in the biopic.

Salt-N-Pepa have sold over 15 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling rap acts of all time, male or female. The group has been nominated for a Grammy Award several times.

The trio won the 1995 Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for their song “None of Your Business.”
