David and Victoria Beckham ‘plan to build secret escape tunnel’ in Cotswolds home to ‘improve security’

David and Victoria Beckham have reportedly sought planning permission to construct a secret escape tunnel in their Cotswolds home to “improve security”.

The 45 year old former professional footballer and his 46 year old wife reportedly want to create an underground walkway which links their luxury home to the car garage on the property.

David and Victoria, who recently showed off her favourite working from home look, are understood to have asked the local council’s permission to also construct a wine cellar, to add to the property’s tennis court, tree house and expansive gardens.

With security in mind, the couple have also sought permission to build a security hut in the Cotswolds home, where they are in lockdown with their children Romeo, 17, crus, 15, and Harper, eight, while their eldest son Brooklyn, 21, is in lockdown in America.

In planning documents obtained by Express, Posh and Beck’s planning agent said of the plans: “The proposed development includes a new basement cellar constructed beneath the extension to the existing garage outbuilding with a linked walkway.

“The basement cellar beneath is for storage of wine and the proposed use of the outbuilding is solely in association with the main dwelling house.

“It will improve security for the occupants of the property.

“The proposed [garage] extension adds three new bays to the existing garage outbuilding, increasing the building from four bays to seven.”

Posh and Beck’s impressive Cotswolds home, said to be worth £6million, comprises of a classic country kitchen kitted with a wood-buring pizza oven, a spacious living room, as well as plunge pool and fire pit in the garden.

The couple purchased the lavish pad back in 2016. But, their latest reported venture to expand the home isn’t the only property change they’ve made in recent months.

In March, David and his former Spice Girls wife Victoria reportedly purchased a £20million luxury apartment in Miami, complete with a roofed driveway, a private helipad and a roof top pool, according to The Sun.

The incredible apartment is inside a 700ft tall building called One Thousand Museum, which was designed by the late Zaha Hadid, who also created the plans for the 2012 London Olympics Aquatic Centre in Stratford.

The couple also own a £31million mansion in London.

It comes after the couple faced backlash as Victoria’s fashion brand placed some of its staff on the government furlough scheme during the coronavirus lockdown.

But, after backlash over the move, which included Piers Morgan saying the decision made him “puke” on Twitter, Victoria reversed the decision.

Speaking to The Guardian at the time, Victoria said: “We will not now be drawing on the government furlough scheme.”
