Countdown star Carol Vorderman, 60, has posted a throwback picture of herself on her first wedding day to ex-husband Christopher Mather. The Countdown star tactically cropped the snap from her wedding day – which is over 35 years old – to show just her smiling face, as she went on to poke fun at her first marriage, which ended a year later.

It didn’t last… oops

In view of her 106,00 followers, the maths whizz posted the throwback snap.

The black and white picture featured a fresh-faced looking Carol, who was grinning ear to ear with a flower crown around her head.

“This just reminded me… Cute bride age 24”, she wrote.

“All good so far”, she added alongside a thinking face emoji.

However, on the next slide, the star revealed what exactly happened on the evening of her wedding day.

She wrote: “Six hours later… out of the borrowed white thing and into a see through number from the show 321”, she said followed by two laughing face emojis.

“BAD BRIDE singing her song IT’S RAINING MEN”, she added. (sic)

Addressing the short-lived marriage, which ended in 1986, Carol added: “It didn’t last… oops” along with a thumbs up emoji.

Last year, the former Rear of the Year winner spoke candidly about her wedding day on BBC Radio Wales, admitting what she did was “probably not appropriate”.

Speaking about her wedding day to her first husband in the mid-1980’s, the star shocked her co-host Owain Wyn Evans with her confession.

“I’ll tell you what I did at my first wedding reception,” she started, following a chat with her fellow The Great Celebrity Bake Off for SU2C contestant Judge Rinder.

Carol continued: “I was wearing a dress, right, you know the days when you had the white dress for the day, for the big thing itself.

“Then you got changed, didn’t you? For the night time, because you had a disco”, her co-host asked.

Carol went on, forgetting the exact year she was married: “I’m going back to 1980… four or five, something like that.”

The star went on to reveal that she ended up rifling through a costume department in search of her nighttime outfit.

“Anyway…” Carol said through laughter. “I went into the 321 costume department – remember 321 with Ted… You know 321 Dusty Bin?”

She was referencing the popular game show which ran for a decade with late comedian Ted Rogers at the helm.

The star went on: “And I found a frock to wear at night time – it was like something they now wear in Strictly [Come Dancing].

“It was entirely mesh with sequins in the right places.”

The star went on to reveal that after getting changed, she jumped on stage for a rendition of a hit pop song: “So I had this thing that was probably not appropriate for a bride and I got on the stage and sang It’s Raining Men.”
