Brian May took to social media last night to wish Anita Dobson, his wife of 21 years, a happy birthday. The Queen guitarist revealed that the actress is currently working away from home on a “secret” TV project, but was able to return home for her special day.

The 73-year-old musician told his 2.8 million Instagram followers they were having a “quiet celebration”.

The former EastEnders star has been filming scenes in the West Country, according to his post.

The television star, who is best known for playing Angie Watts in the BBC soap opera, turned 72 on April 29.

Brian sweetly described her as “sunshine personified”.

“Happy Birthday to my wonderful lady wife Anita. Who, for some reason, is still putting up with me!

“Currently filming a secret TV project in the West Country. But today at home for a quiet celebration,” he wrote online.

Alongside his post, Brian shared a starry portrait of his wife.

“Thanks @sarah_rugg for this lovely portrait,” he added, before signing off.

Many took to the comments section of the post to share their thoughts and send birthday messages.

British astronaut Tim Peake was clearly impressed by the space-themed picture.

“Happy Birthday Anita,” he wrote alongside the artwork.

“Happy Birthday to this wonderful woman. Such a beautiful portrait too!” another follower added.

A third remarked: “Happiest of birthdays to this gorgeous lady— the loveliest lady wife around!! [kisses] to you both on this wonderful day.”

Brian also shared a video of the birthday girl dancing to Queen’s hit Don’t Stop Me Now.

She could be seen raising her arms in the air and showing off her best moves in the short clip which he posted on his story and grid.

“Happy birthday to my wonderful Missis!!! Sunshine personified and such a beautiful.(sic)

“Source of smile is celebrating her day today,” he captioned the clip.

Brian, who regularly updates fans on Twitter as well as on the picture-sharing site, revealed that he had been banned from TikTok earlier this week.

He shared a confused post on Instagram, asking “What did I do?”

The rock star included a screenshot of his TikTok account, which said his page was banned due to “multiple Community Guidelines violations”.

“I guess my career on Tik Tok is over!” he joked, before revealing that the account was up and running again.
