The U.K. prime minister is now treated at the Intensive Care Unit in a London hospital as his condition is deteriorating after battling coronavirus for more than a week.
AceShowbiz -British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at London’s St. Thomas’ Hospital as his coronavirus symptoms worsen.
The U.K. leader was admitted to the National Health Service (NHS) hospital on Sunday, April 5, 2020 after battling COVID-19 for 10 days. His doctor initially insisted the move was a “precaution,” but a new statement released by his office on Monday, April 6, 2020 suggests Johnson’s condition is deteriorating.
“Since Sunday evening, the Prime Minister has been under the care of doctors at St Thomas’ Hospital, in London, after being admitted with persistent symptoms of coronavirus,” the statement reads. “Over the course of this afternoon, the condition of the Prime Minister has worsened and, on the advice of his medical team, he has been moved to the Intensive Care Unit at the hospital.”
“The PM has asked Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab, who is the First Secretary of State, to deputise for him where necessary. The PM is receiving excellent care, and thanks all NHS staff for their hard work and dedication.”
