The One Show presenter Alex Jones, 43, has revealed in an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk that a Michael Buble blunder was one of her highlights of presenting the show with friend and co-host Matt Baker, 43. After presenting the BBC favourite show together for nearly a decade, Matt left last March and now solely fronts BBC’s Countryfile.
That was horrendous as well because he said sing along
Speaking in a candid chat, the Welsh TV presenter opened up about her favourite moments presenting with the former Blue Peter star, while also discussing AXA Health’s Feelgood Health campaign.
Surprisingly, Alex explained that a near miss with Canadian crooner Michael was a memorable experience after being asked to sing along to his songs.
She revealed: “We sang with Michael Buble on a massive stage outside the BBC.
“That was horrendous as well because he said sing along.
“I thought, ‘oh no I don’t know the words, I’m on live television making Michael Buble words up with Michael Buble standing next to me’.”
Despite the faux pas, the presenter revealed that her and Matt always “had a really fun time”.
Adding more singers to the list of celebrities she’s performed with, Alex revealed that some of the stars she interviewed were also the highlight of presenting the show alongside Matt.
She said: “The people that we interviewed we got to sing with – Stevie Wonder – we sang happy birthday with him when it was the Queen’s Jubilee.”
The presenter added in disbelief: “We sang with Stevie Wonder!”
Alex said that the singer aimed a cheeky jibe at her, which left her co-star in stitches.
She said: “He grabbed my hand and he said ‘I sure hope you’re pretty’, so that made Matt really laugh.”
The Queen’s Jubilee was an especially memorable event for the Welsh presenter, as she remembers interviewing practically “every Sir you could imagine”.

She said: “I remember one mega celebration, I think it must have been the Queen’s Jubilee, we were on a double decker bus, parked in Hyde Park.
“We literally had every Sir, Sir Elton, Sir Cliff, literally in a day we had every Sir you could imagine come through to be interviewed.”
Alex added: “I thought if my parents were here they wouldn’t be able to believe it!”
As well as the celebrity interviews she and Matt conducted together, the former Strictly Come Dancing contestant said that dancing in Buckingham Palace was also a memorable moment.
Alex said: “We performed a classic Waltz in this magnificent room and it felt like an out of body experience, it was amazing and they gave us a full run of the palace.
“They filmed beautiful scenes where you were running through the gallery up and down the stairs – it was like being in The Crown, it was amazing.”
Alex previously said that Matt left the show because he wanted a “different pace of life” to his co-star.
Since then, Alex has sat opposite a new face on the famous green sofa every week and has said the changing faces help keep the show “fresh”.
The AXA campaign promotes the idea of feeling healthy by taking care of both body and mind through day to day activities. AXA have teamed up with Spotify to produce stress-relieving and mood-boosting playlists for every activity.
The One Show is on tonight at 7pm on BBC One.
