Aaron Paul, Kesha, Sarah Paulson and Kristen Bell are some of the celebrities ‘taking responsibility’ amid the Black Lives Matter movement in a new video.
The stars appeared to follow in Gal Gadot’s footsteps with her Imagine video, as they banded together for the clip in partnership with Confluential Films and the NAACP.
While they certainly appeared to have good intentions and shared an important message, many fans have been left unimpressed with the ‘performative’ video.
The clip begins with Sarah, Aaron and Kesha declaring: ‘I take responsibility’, with Kristen adding: ‘For every time it was easier to ignore than to call it out for what it was.’
The list continued with: ‘For every unfair stereotype, every blatant injustice, no matter how big or small, every time I remained silent, every time I explained away police brutality or turned a blind eye.’
Stanley Tucci added: ‘I will no longer allow an unchecked moment, I will no longer allow racist hurtful words, jokes, stereotypes, no matter how big or small, to be uttered in my presence.’
‘Going for a job should not be a death sentence,’ the video continued, ‘sleeping in your own home should not be a death sentence, playing video games with your nephew should not be a death sentence, shopping in a store should not be a death sentence, business as usual should not be life-threatening.’
The celebrities went on to declare: ‘I stand against hate,’ with Breaking Bad star Aaron finishing the video by urging fans: ‘Call out hate, step up, and take action.’
Fans have been left unimpressed with the video, with some joking that Aaron went ‘full Jesse Pinkman’ for his parts.
