It informed him that due to social distancing, the tooth fairy wouldn’t be able to get close enough to leave some money under his pillow.

After sticking the note up with some sellotape, the comedian shared a snap of it on Twitter, where it’s since racked up more than 25,000 likes.

Joe said: “My son lost a tooth last night.

“I just saved myself £2.”

The letter itself says: “Sorry, due to social distancing I’m not allowed in your house.

“Maybe next time.

“Love, the tooth fairy.”

Thousands of people have commented on the post, with one person even questioning how the ‘tooth fairy’ could have left the note if they weren’t allowed inside.

Clarifying the situation, Joe added: “It's on the outside of the back door.

“Also, the tooth fairy isn't real.”

Others jokingly claimed that the tooth fairy counts as an ‘essential worker’, so should have been allowed inside.

Commenting on the post, one person said: “Nope nope nope, the tooth fairy has dispensation as an essential worker, like health professionals, supermarket staff and so on.”
