Fancy some free Lush products?
All you have to do is keep your empty packaging from the things you’ve bought before and return it all to store.
For every empty piece you bring back, they’ll give you 50p to spend that day.
If you’ve managed to go through a lot during lockdown, it might be a good opportunity to cash in all your packaging and treat yourself.
The Bring it Back scheme launches today and you’ll be able to return four things:
- Clear plastic bottles (with lids)
- Pots clear & black (with lids)
- Makeup packaging
- Bottles with trigger/spray tops
They must be full-size bottles and only applies to products made by Lush – don’t try to use packaging from other brands to get the discount.
The store does already have a scheme in place where you can get a fresh face mask in exchange for five pieces of plastic packaging and that will continue alongside this.
If you have more than five, you can choose which scheme to use but you can’t use both at the same time.
You can bring back as many items as you like, but you must use the discount on the same day in store.
There are a few exclusions on what you can spend the discount on, including:
- Lush Charity Pot
- Any campaign products raising funds for charities or non-profit organisations
- ‘Swag’ items such as clothing, tote bags and cosmetics pouches
- Knot Wraps
- Certain gift boxes
- Sale items
- Lush paper carrier bags
- Make-up brushes
Rae Stanton-Smithson, Lush Earthcare: ‘We are working hard to offer people the ultimate waste-free shopping experience. We continue to invent revolutionary naked products, unique packaging materials, work on reusable plastic packaging items as well as looking into refilling options for the future.
‘This recycling scheme is another step on our path to leaving the world Lusher than we found it.
‘By moving towards a deposit-style scheme, whereby Lush customers know that they are ‘renting’ the packaging and can simply return it when they are finished, we keep the responsibility of waste-reduction and resource recycling as a company responsibility.
‘All we need our customers to do is simply return their empties to us – we’ll take care of the rest.’
You can find full details of the terms and conditions here.
Other brands offer similar schemes, like at Boots, where you can get Advantage Card points in return for recycling packaging by any brand.
